Emphasizing Fun and Skill Development

As a basketball coach you will want to earn as much trophies and possible, but don't let your quest blur your judgement regarding what's best for your player. Most of the leagues keep standings on the win-loss record of the seasons, trust me when I say that those records don't define your success as a coach, your success can be measured by the skill improvement of the kids you coach and the fun they have, let's not forget their pleasure of having you as their couch. My advice to you is to use every game and practice as Lego building blocks in your kid's development, and never forget to have fun in the meantime. Having fun is a good method to relieve some stress that gathered during a season or a bad game. Emphasizing fun and skill development will ensure your success as a couch and will make your players to enjoy the experience of having you as their guide.

The less you focus on wins and looses the more relaxed your players will be, the more you dwell on looses, the more you will get stressed and you will start not to think clearly. For example you can have a very good game and season and you could earn the 1st place trophy, but that doesn't mean that you where the one responsible for this, maybe the other coaches pushed or stressed his player too much and he broke them, giving you the advantage a nice and relaxed environment. Having fun in whatever you do is the key to success.

Easy Beginner Blues Chords

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Blues guitar is great fun to play. This article shows you the simple open chords and basic blues song structure you can use to play many thousands of songs.

But learning to play the blues is not only great fun, it also gives you valuable skills you can use in other styles such as rock, soul, R&B, funk and jazz.

Blues guitar uses distinctive sounding chords called dominant 7th chords. These are denoted by the number 7 following the chord name.

The dominant 7th chord is simply a normal major or minor chord with a 7th note two frets below the root note added. For example, you add a D note to an E major chord to form an E7, a G note to an A chord gives you A7, and so on.

You can add the 7th note to many chords by finding a root note and changing the fingering to play the note two frets below it. The chord diagrams below show you easy open blues chords in the key of A major.

E7 A7 D7

e 0|---|---| 0|---|---|---| |---|-3-|

B 0|---|---| |---|-2-|---| |-1-|---|

G |-1-|---| 0|---|---|---| |---|-2-|

D 0|---|---| |---|-1-|---| 0|---|---|

A |---|-2-| 0|---|---|---| x|---|---|

E 0|---|---| x|---|---|---| x|---|---|

You can try to find the dominant 7th note for other open chords you know. Simply find a string where the root note occurs and change fingering to play the note two frets lower on that string. Remember that the root note occurs two or even three times in open chord forms. Alternatively, you can find a string where the 5th note of the chord occurs and play the note three frets up from it.

Now you know how to play simple blues chords in open positions let's look at how they are used in songs.

Most blues songs use a 12 bar chord progression that is quite easy to learn. Once you master this progression you'll be able to play very many blues songs with it.

The blues progression uses chords based on the first, fourth and fifth scale degrees. These are commonly known as the I, IV and V chords. Here is the 12 bar blues progression in the key of A major, the I, IV, V chords are A7, D7 and E7 respectively.

| A7 | X | X | X | D7 | X |

| A7 | X | E7 | D7 | A7 | E7 |

As you learn and memorize this progression you should aim to memorize the chord changes in terms of I, IV and V chords. If you do this then it will be easy to play the blues in a variety of keys.

You can play the blues in four popular keys - A, E, D and G - with only five chords. The table below shows the I, IV and V chords for these four major keys commonly played on the guitar.

Key of E: E7 (I), A7 (IV), B7 (V)

Key of A: A7 (I), D7 (IV), E7 (V)

Key of D: D7 (I), G7 (IV), A7 (V)

Key of G: G7 (I), C7 (IV), D7 (V)

Practice the chord forms one key at a time and memorize the 12 bar blues progression. With these two simple pieces of knowledge you can have fun playing along to many blues songs or join in at your local blues jam.

What is the Difference Between Plasma TV, LCD TV and LED TV?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Over the past decade home entertainment technology has really taken some huge leaps forward. Today, the task of buying a new TV is not just a matter of picking your favourite brand or buying the largest size you can afford. There seem to be more options than ever, and this has certainly led to a lot of confusion among consumers. With that in mind, what exactly are the main differences between the different types of TV, and which is the best?

Plasma TVs are one of the older types of flat screen. They are relatively cheap to produce meaning that prices are generally low for the screen size, which led to plasma becoming a popular choice with consumers who wanted to get the largest screen for their money. These TVs use a gas, which then turns into plasma when an electronic current is passed through it; the plasma then emits the light to create the pictures. This results in a high quality, realistic picture that doesn't suffer from motion blur. It also offers a particularly wide viewing angle.

However, plasma screens do tend to only have a lifespan of about 10-15 years and do use a relatively high amount of energy, which is now frowned upon as many consumers are trying to become more environmentally friendly. Plasma screens are also quite thick, and are very heavy for their size, so they can be awkward to move. The screen is also fairly susceptible to glare, especially in bright rooms.

LCD TVs can trace their roots back to computer monitors and were first introduced at around the same time as plasma TVs. These TVs use the same basic technology as your pocket calculator screen and are backlit with florescent light. They have a much longer lifespan than plasma screens, something in the region of 30+ years, and also use much less power. Traditionally LCD prices were higher than plasma, but as new manufacturing techniques have evolved the prices are now rapidly falling.

While LCD TVs are available in a wide range of sizes, they do offer the worst performance of all the flat screens though, not only do they have the lowest contrast level but they also have a slow refresh rate meaning that motion blur often occurs. The viewing angle is also much narrower than that of plasma TVs, which means that it can be difficult to find a location that offers a good view for everyone, especially in smaller rooms.

LED TVs are actually the next generation of LCD screens, as they are based on a similar technology but use LED backlighting instead of the florescent backlighting found in traditional LCD screens. The new backlighting technology means that they are able to deliver a much more dynamic picture quality, they also use significantly less power than even the most efficient LCD TVs. LED screens can be made to be extremely thin, so they offer consumers the ability to place the TV practically anywhere - indeed it is now commonplace to see TVs fastened to the wall in order to save floor space.

As this is still a relatively new development, LED screens do tend to be more expensive than their LCD counterparts. However as LED TVs become more widespread the cost of production is expected to drop significantly, which will be reflected through dramatically lower prices in-store. Having said that, LED technology is considered to be the most reliable of all the flat screen formats so many people don't mind paying a little bit more.

The world of home entertainment can certainly be a confusing place, especially as new advances in technology seem to come along on an almost monthly basis. Hopefully this article has shed some light on the current generation of flat screen TVs, so at least you can stand a fighting chance the next time you venture into the home entertainment section of the electronics store.

Boxing - The New 'In' Sport

With the dawning of the new millennium also came a surge in popularity of a well-known sport, boxing. It has become an activity that is no longer just for the brawny guys, but is gaining in popularity amongst varied types of people.

Boxing has become one of the fastest growing fitness regimes that is available today. If you are wanting to develop a toned, lean and very strong central core for your body, then this just might be the perfect endeavor for you to achieve that goal.

Many people think of boxing as being a very lonely sport, in a dark corner of the boxing gym, with just you and a punching bag for company. But, the surprising reality is that boxing is actually a sport that allows for quite a good amount of socialization.

Most boxing classes will have anywhere from 12 to 30 participants and they usually concentrate on sparring and on pad work. So, this means that you pair-off and face-off with a classmate to practice throwing a combination of punches and they attempt to block your throws with padded boxing gloves. Then you switch roles and block while they throw.

A typical boxing class will start out with a warm-up that goes for about 10 minutes which is then followed with about 30 minutes of boxing and then wraps up with about another 10 minutes to cool-down after the main workout. The classes will also focus in teaching you how to throw a proper punch, which is more about the proper technique than it is about your strength.

There are three primary moves that you will learn in boxing class. The first category is hooks, or side punches. The second category is jabs, which are straight forward punches. The third category of moves are the up-cuts, which are the punches that are delivered in an upward thrust. The instructor will indicate which combinations you should be working on at any given time during the class and will also have partner change-ups in order to further mix-up the action and gain experiences with different people as well.

You should be aware that boxing is a seriously challenging workout and is really not meant for the faint of heart or for those who are not willing or able to go full-out during the class. It is a high-intensity activity and it is also a full-body workout that has you moving virtually every minute of class time, either while throwing punches, or while ducking and weaving to avoid allowing your partner to make the connection.

The main benefits of taking up boxing as a fitness hobby are: weight loss, improved coordination and agility, better muscle tone and better overall fitness. While some people think that boxing only works the arms, the truth is that it is a workout for the whole body and is especially good at strengthening and toning the core muscles.

Boxing has been shown to also be a very good activity for improving the tone of the muscles of the area of the buttocks and quads. This factor has made it a popular exercise for the ladies who are looking to tone up and tighten their muscles in specific areas.

Download Wii Games - Where To Download Games For Nintendo Wii?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The popularity of the new Wii console has led a lot of us to wonder if we can download Wii games. A quick search online turns up lots of sites offering Wii game downloads and talking about the possibility of getting these games. However, it can be hard to tell which sites are reliable, safe from viruses, and provide quality games.

A good Wii download site will offer both older games and new releases. The Wii's support for classic Nintendo games means that you have the ability to download your old favorites, as well as the flashiest new games. If you want to download Wii games, look for a site that offers a good variety. Don't give your information or money to any site you don't trust, or that feels shady. Stick to well designed sites that won't sell your information or fill your computer with malware.

Generally, you'll find that there are two different kinds of sites on the web offering Wii game downloads. Some charge a price per file download. Others allow you access to an unlimited number of games for a flat fee. Which you choose will depend on how many games you need. If you want to download Wii games extensively, an unlimited site will be your best choice. If you are just looking for that one special game you can't find anywhere else, however, paying by the download will be cheaper.

To download Wii games, some sites may require you to download special software. This software will either connect to the site's main server, or to other users of the site, allowing you to download the Wii games you want. Remember, to play downloaded games on your computer, you'll also have to be able to find an emulator that operates the way the Nintendo console would.

If you want to download Wii games, it's easy to find a place that offers them. However, choosing where you want to download from can be a little bit harder. Look carefully at all the available sites offering games for download before you pick one. You could be downloading the latest Wii games, or your old favorites, within a few minutes of registering.

UFC 2009 Undisputed - Video Game Review

UFC 2009 Undisputed is a video game about the mixed martial arts show Ultimate Fighting Champion, to be released later this month. I am personally very excited to get this game because it's UFC! For those who are also looking forward about the game, it will be released only on Xbox and Playstation 3. There's even a playable demo released last month so people can try it out. The demo is a match-up between Chuck Lidell and Mauricio Rua.

As excited as I am about the game itself, there's one thing I'm looking forward to more than the game. It's how the players are going to look like. I mean, okay, in a video game, maybe other players are considering other things before they decide if they like it or not, but for me, it's this one thing: the accuracy of the CGI to the actual players. Simply put, do they look like the real thing?

I mean I won't be able to really absorb and feel the game and feel that I'm Brandon Vera if I'm looking at someone who looks like a famished version of him. It just won't feel right. That's why when I heard about the playable demo, that's the first thing I checked, not the user-friendliness or other technical stuff. Call me weird, but I really hold that I high regard.

Fortunately, I wasn't disappointed. Granted, Chuck Lidell looks like a little mellower in the game than in real life, but they got his beard all right, and the expression on his face when he does his move is awesome. It got me all excited to play the real game because the players in the game looked like the real thing and that motivated me.

The release of UFC 2009 Undisputed is coming up in just a few days, and I'm probably going to reserve now to make secure a copy before they run out before I could run to a video game store.

Download Free PS3 and Xbox 360 Games Online

Do you wish you could download all your favorite PS3 and Xbox 360 games on the internet? Just imagine no more searching retail stores to spend ridiculous amounts of money on games that eventually become boring, outdated and no longer playable. Well luckily for you, these days it is very easy to download all the latest PS3 and Xbox 360 games from the internet, and it can all be done for Free.

There are plenty of sites popping up all over the internet that offer free downloads and for a beginner it is pretty easy to get confused. Most of the sites available are pretty much scams and don't deliver on what they promise, while others will offer you access to their databases but except you to pay a separate fee for every time you download a single file. Anyhow amongst all these worthless sites there are a few gems and legitimate places where you can download all your favorite PS3 games for free. However when looking for them you must follow some basic principles, which should help you find a decent source that you can use for life.

Firstly you could go and download your games from sites that are completely Free, e.g. Torrent sites, file sharing sites etc. however the problem with these sites is that their files aren't carefully regulated and most of their files contain hidden viruses, ads or Spyware, which can be extremely harmful and dangerous to your computer. Remember nothing in this world is absolutely free, everything comes at a cost, and for you to download your games from these free sites you are risking your computer being infected with viscous viruses, that even anti-virus software's have a hard time detecting.

Personally I would have to say that the most reliable and efficient choice would be to sign up to a legitimate site which charges a one time small fee to access their huge database of Files. These sites heavily monitor the quality of their files and their databases are updated on a regular basis, giving you unlimited lifetime access to download all the latest games. You will have to pay a small fee to join up, but I believe paying half or quarter of the price a single game (depending on which site you join, there usually less than $49.95) and gaining lifetime access to download as many games as you like without risking your computers safety is a pretty good deal. It is considered pretty much Free because the benefits far outweigh the costs, e.g. the benefits of gaining lifetime access to downloading safe regulated files that assure the safety of your computer and save you a huge amount of money in the future, easily outweigh the small one time cost to join the site.

Secondly you should choose a site that offers all sorts of media downloads. The top sites in this business will allow you download the latest Movies, TV Shows and Music along with video game downloads as well. Also do some research and make sure the site is legit, check to see if they offer customer support so if you have any problems you can get a quick response. Lastly try to find a site which offers a full money back guarantee, this way you can always get your money back if you are not happy with their services.

My Summer PSP Time

During my free time, I can't think of anything better to do but play my favorite games in PSP. I personally think that this gizmo is the best product that ever came out. It is able to bridge the gap between the need of various people. It is able to support music, movies, photos, and not to mention games at the same time. What makes playing it even more exciting is eating my all time favorite pick and mix sweets with it.

During the last summer vacation, I decided not to take any summer electives but instead spend more time with my family and friends. It was also during that time that I was able to have more than enough time to browse through all the best PSP games in the market. And that I did. After a quick trip to the candy shop to buy some pick and mix sweets, I headed to the nearest digital gaming shop and bought all the latest titles with rave reviews.

One of the games that I bought is Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Being a fan of war-inspired games, I couldn't resist but put the game in my shopping bag. The Metal Gear series is a really famous game in PSP and the addition of the latest installment Peace Walker is one of the most anticipated game events of the year. Playing Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker while enjoying some pick and mix sweets is such an exciting experience. It complements the amazing stealth action campaign which has a very strong cooperative offering and challenging mission. A real must have for all the fans of this genre.

I also bought the game Hexyz Force. I grew up watching my brother play RPGs in the PlayStation One and it has somehow influenced me in my choices of games. This role-playing adventure exudes an enjoyable equilibrium between traditional and new elements, risk and reward, and combat and crafting. The characters in this game are also lovable with such amazing background stories and skills to boast. The graphic of the game is also equally appealing. It is such a fun game to play with some pick and mix sweets around.

The last game that I bought last summer was ModNation Racers. I have been a big fan of the Nintendo all star cast games but since it's impossible in the Sony console, ModNation Racers has somehow satiated my hunger for the games I used to love in Nintendo. This full of feature kart racer boasts remarkable customization options and online modes. A must-have to play with friends especially with some pick and mix sweets.

Sony Move: Taking Gaming To A New Level

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If you are a person who loves playing video games especially PlayStation games, then you will definitely want to check out the PlayStation Move. This is the newest motion controller system from PlayStation. This interactive gaming system will change your gaming experience. The Move is a combination of the PlayStation 3 system, the PlayStation Eye camera, and the PlayStation Move motion controller. Now you can move like you've never moved before.

There are many different types of games you can play and definitely something for everyone. Ping-pong is one example of what you can do with the Sony Move. You can play hard or soft making precise wrist actions to return the ball to your opponent's court. You can do the backhand as well as the power slam very easily. You can even hit the ball in such a way that you can make it spin. Give the Sony Move a hand in making the ping-pong game just like the real one.

The Move Party game is an interesting one. This game gives you the power to change places with physical objects. For instance, you can turn your arm into a golf club. With a simple swing movement, you can hit a golf ball as hard as you can or give it a soft tap to get it into the hole. The Sony Move will show you angles in relation to your arm being a golf club. What's more, you have a wide variety of colors to choose from when you're turning various parts of your body into inanimate objects.

If you want to have a more interesting colored golf club, you can paint your arm golf club into something that's bright and vibrant like royal blue. You can even change your hand into a hand fan. You can have your hand fan blowing away at feathers of various colors with the Sony Move. Another type of game you can play with this controller is the slash and bash third person fighter game.

In this game, the console will allow you to wield your sword easily and effortlessly. You can raise it as quickly as you can to protect yourself from attack and you can also keep your hands at your back as a way to taunt your opponent.

These are just a few examples of games that you can play with the Sony Move system. There are many others to choose from. If you want to experience video gaming at a new level then be sure to have a look at the PlayStation Move.

The New Single by Ocean Colour Scene

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Ocean Colour Scene is a britpop band from 90's era. The same era with Blur, Oasis, Pulp, Suede, and others notable great britpop bands. It seems like ocean colour scene had a less minor success than those bands. Don't know why. Because ocean colour scene write a great songs too. Their tunes are cheering up your mood. It's the role of media to put one band as a favorite and others band as a minor ones.

Glad to hear that OCS did not break up. Where most of 90's britpop bands going on hiatus, disband, or vacuum, Ocean Colour Scene released their new album. It would be a good boost for the britpop fans. Their music is not changing. Still playing on britpop sounds and tunes.

Check their latest single called Magic Carpet Days. Good tunes there. Yes, they are good at making good music. And you'd be easily get crushed on them if you see their live performance. They are really good at live performance!

This are good times for the britpop lovers. The verve has released love is noise before, which is quite good too. And now, Ocean Colour Scene made it too. Hope that the other vacuum bands will be doing the same thing, make a new records. The others like Dodgy, Boo Radleys, Mansun, Oasis, Blur, Catatonia, Elastica, Pulp, ooh man, so many great bands I have to mention.

Where did all those good bands go? Hope that they're not just gone. Great memories they have made. But I can imagine how Liam Gallagher will say: it's all over. That's it! It's over!

Gran Turismo 5 Review

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Bordering on vaporware for the majority of 2010, I finally got my hands on a copy of Gran Turismo 5 on November 24th. Unfortunately for me I could not afford the Logitech G27 race wheel I so desired, so a gamepad had to suffice for my review. Polophony Digital delivered their promised features, and this is the best Gran Turismo to date, but how much one will enjoy the game depends primarily on patience.

The first thing that struck me upon starting up Gran Turismo 5 and sitting through the long opening cutscene was the strange interface. It's clear Polophony Digital is in it for the long haul with Gran Turismo 5, and they want to bring players along. The first task upon start up is configuring the player profile, choosing a driver outfit, inputting personal information and preferences, and just getting setup within the Gran Turismo community in general. From the start, players can participate in the traditional A-spec racing mode, as well as the B-spec driving coach mode.

The interface is reminiscent of a web page, and is strikingly similar to the PS3 web browser's home page. It's a strange setup that works for the most part, but the entire interface is bogged down with constant loading screens. Want to enter the car tuning section? That's a 30 second load screen. Want to visit the dealership? 30 second load screen. Ready to view the available races? Several 30 second load screens. Players will spend more time waiting for menus to load than they will spend actively navigating the interface.

Thankfully a snappy soundtrack accompanies the UI, and I love almost every song here. This is some of the best menu music I've ever heard, but a ragtime song in the GT auto menu feels out of place and corny. Another thing I missed from previous GT entries are the licensed songs. Offerings from The Cardigans, Garbage, and The Crystal Method included in Gran Turismo 2 were absolutely amazing and accented the fast paced racing beautifully, but you'll find no licensed music in Gran Turismo 5. In fact, the audio in general is pretty bad. Jeff Gordon coaches the player in the NASCAR racing events, but he sounds absolutely horrid, and the filter they add to simulate radio static compounds the issue. Cars do not sound accurate either, with 60's and 70's muscle cars sounding as if they have the guts of a Japanese import. These are gross inaccuracies, and will be off putting for muscle car GT fans.

Most players will probably dive into A-spec mode first, and Gran Turismo 5 provides players with their initial 20,000 credits to make their first used car purchase. I personally started with a 1996 Nissan Silva Q's Aero. One of my favorite aspects of the Gran Turismo series has been the ability to purchase an inconspicuous used car and turn it into a modded out monster. Used cars were omitted in some of the previous GT entries, so I was glad to see the feature return, however I'm not too enthused with the standard car models that they populate. The first thing I noticed about my Nissan was the horridly pixelated textures surrounding the headlights. It's clear this is an old model that had been up-scaled. You can see blunders like this on a few of the standard car models, but as I progressed through the A-spec events I noticed that they were few and far between. Many of the standard car models look just fine, but perfection would have been nice.

The premium cars on the other hand are a site to behold and feature both better damage modeling and a cockpit view. I love the cockpit view, however Need for Speed: Shift still reigns supreme in this avenue. Players can choose between three different zoom levels in the cockpit view, but this view doesn't feel as realistic as what we've seen in Shift. The cockpit view's default "wide" setting leaves players with too small a viewing area, and I played it myself on an eight foot wide projector, so screen size was not to blame. I really wish Polophony Digital would have added a generic standard model cockpit. I understand this would detract from realism somewhat, but I believe a cockpit view of any kind would have been better than the cold omission we were left with.

As the player levels up, they will be invited to participate in Gran Turismo special events. The first of which is kart racing, but this is definitely not Mario Kart. These racing karts sport only one gear but still get up to 80 miles per hour, so it takes a bit of practice to get the physics down(protip: accelerate very carefully while turning). While kart racing is a fun diversion, NASCAR is absolutely ridiculous on a gamepad. I imagine it would be much more enjoyable on a wheel that features force feedback. The NASCAR events require a level of precision that does nothing but set players up for frustration. Rally racing is fun, but once again players will need to practice and take the time to learn the physics involved if they hope to do well in the rally events. I loved the Grand Tour event, as it takes the player around the world to experience many different tracks, vehicles, and racing modes, with the variety here keeping everything fresh. The special events provide the greatest financial rewards as well, so players struggling for credits will want to visit this mode often.

As far as the actual racing goes, GT5 offers absolute perfection. No racing game I've experienced so far has left me with the same sense of immersion I get from Gran Turismo 5. Turn off all assists, turn off the driving line, hell, turn off that pussy ass mini-map. Gran Turismo 5 will make you a better driver, and I was throwing myself around the couch braking into turns and burning out of apexes. Courses like Trial Mountain and Laguna Seca are indescribably fun to experience in a supercar, and there are so many courses included in Gran Turismo 5 I don't even think I've hit them all. On top of that, GT5 includes a course generator that allows players to mix it up with their own course parameters. This isn't a fully featured suite like you would find in Modnation Racers, but it's a great feature that compliments GT5's extensive list of available courses.

B-spec events require that players create a driver, choosing between several broad archetypes that differ in driving skills and mood, and direct the driver around each course. As the driver completes races, their skills will develop, and the player can put together a driving team featuring members with varying strengths and weaknesses, much like the A-Team only way more boring. I tried to spend time with B-spec events, but after just a few races I realized this is just a glorified interactive replay, and I prefer to be more hands on. I'm sure some will enjoy this mode but I would have preferred more available A-spec events.

Multiplayer is criminally fun. I mean wow, with everyone rocking headsets and the ability to support up to 16 players, the multiplayer racing is one of the most fun online experiences I've had all year. When the driver in front of me spun out in an unexpected turn on Nürburgring and comically raged into his mic, everyone in the race was laughing their asses off. Before and in between races, players can freely roam courses with each other, and this is a blast. The lobby is a great place to chat and hang out while showing off your own cars, and players have plenty of options for customizing the race type, vehicle restrictions, and lobby name. As soon as I saw BEER! 14/16 players, I scrambled to join the room. There are many different race modes included; drag, standard race, best lap time, etc.

The tuning system feels fully fleshed out, with a ton of options for body/chasis, intake, exhaust, drivetrain, transmission, tires, engine, etc, but surprisingly no option to upgrade brakes. Apparently every car in GT5 inherently has the best brakes available. For real gear heads, it's possible to fine tune gear ratios once the proper transmission is purchased, and the same can be said for suspension and many others. It's a blast to experiment with the different options available, and although it's tempting to go all out on horsepower upgrades, the drive-train and transmission upgrades will give better returns when it comes to accelerating out of an apex.

Another unique offering in Gran Turismo 5 is the Gran Turismo TV mode, showcasing a boatload of documentaries, carshows, featurettes, and races. Many of these are free, but there is a charge to view some races, usually $2.99, which is not bad at all for racing fans. I'm interested to see how this aspect of GT5 expands and am very glad it was included.

Gran Turismo 5 is fun, but it's not the type of arcade experience you would find in the Need for Speed or Burnout franchises. Players familiar with Gran Turismo should not be surprised with what Gran Turismo 5 has to offer, but newcomers or more casual gamers may be left confused, and the quirky interface will not help matters. I'm very interested to see how Polophony Digital will develop Gran Turismo 5's online community and what features will be added in the upcoming months. Race fans should definitely pick this up, but it's unfortunate that the interface and long load screens leave so much downtime between so much fun.

4 GM Vehicles, Stars of Transformers

Image : http://www.flickr.com

General Motors has recently hosted its sixth annual "ten" pre-Oscar fashion event at Paramount Pictures in Hollywood with four new movie star guests namely Bumblebee(TM), Autobot Jazz®, Autobot Ratchet® and Ironhide® ---creations of DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures in partnership with Hasbro's forthcoming July 4th action-adventure release--Transformers(TM).

Bumblebee is the Transformer character that changes from the classic Chevrolet Camaro and one of the main characters in the chronicle of aliens who takes the mechanical forms when they are on earth. The Autobot Jazz converts from a Pontiac Solstice in a hardtop format while Autobot Ratchet takes the form of a Hummer H2 that looks like a modified rescue vehicle. Ironhide transforms to a GMC TopKick medium duty truck. All of these characters are casts of the live-action blockbuster "Transformers" which are to be shown this summer specifically on July 4.

News about the roles that the GM vehicles play in the movie has been spreading since the preview of new Camaro was seen in Paramount's newest "Transformers" trailer which started appearing in theaters last Dec. 20, 2006. The movie trailer of the "Transformers" in Yahoo has become one of the most-viewed trailers and contains pictures of the GM vehicles that are included in the movie such as the H2, Solstice and GMC TopKick medium duty truck.

According to Mike Jackson, GM North America Vice President, Marketing and Advertising, "Transformers' is a compelling project and offers us a global platform for marketing GM products and building brands. It represents the perfect intersection of entertainment, marketing and design."

But why feature GM vehicles in Transformers? Here's what Michael Bay, the film's Director has to say, "The first time I saw the new Camaro, while touring the GM Design Center, I knew immediately that it would be a perfect Bumblebee. It's got beautiful lines and a classic, timeless look. There were no other cars that came even close. I have has a great working relationship with GM for many years and am psyched to be working with them on Transformers."

Gerry Rich, President of Worldwide Marketing at Paramount Pictures further added, "We are thrilled to be working with GM on this incredible and action-packed film. Having integrated the cars as characters in the film is truly an innovative concept that will make the movie into an important event to remember as part of the celebration of the 4th of July."

The movie Transformers(TM) did not only showcased remarkable GM designs but also displayed the unparalleled quality of GM vehicles starting from its auto parts components and accessories like its lines of GM bumper covers up to its matchless road performance.

What's Under the Hood

As with previous models, the PlayStation 3 160 GB system features an IBM "Cell" processor and a co-developed NVIDIA graphics processor that together allow the system to perform two trillion calculations per second. Yet the 160 GB system manages to improve on this with its 45nm version of the processor, which although running at the same 60+nm speed as previous PS3 versions, uses less energy. This makes the unit's smaller size and quieter fan possible. Along with the traditional AV and composite connections, the 160 GB system also boasts an HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) port, which delivers uncompressed, unconverted digital picture and sound to compatible high-definition TVs and projectors. (The system is capable of 128-bit pixel precision and 1080p resolution for a full HD experience) This console also provides for an extreme sound experience by supporting Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS 5.1, as well as Linear PCM 7.1. Finally, it features cross connectivity with your PC network and PlayStation Portable (PSP) and its pre-installed, 160 GB hard disc drive allows you to save games as well as download content from the Internet.

Blu-ray, PlayStation Network Downloads and Beyond

PlayStation 3 utilizes the Blu-ray disc media format, which gives you the best high-definition viewing experience on your television, by way of the format's ability to hold six times as much data as traditional DVDs. This tremendous capacity, combined with the awesome power of the system's processor and graphics card, promises an endless stream of mind-blowing games and other multimedia content. This doesn't mean though that the PS3 is limited to Blu-ray discs. It also supports CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD+R formats. In addition, PlayStation 3 system software includes BD Live support that allows you to play discs that support Blu-ray Disc Profile 2.0 (BD-LIVE), meaning you can also connect to the Internet while playing discs that support this format to obtain additional features. And of course PS3 owners also receive free access to the PlayStation Network (PSN), where through The PlayStation Store and PlayStation Home, they can download games, game demos, movies, and other content, as well as chat with friends, play mini-games, compete in tournaments and explore dedicated game spaces.

A Sensational Controller

The DualShock 3 wireless controller included with The PlayStation 3 160 GB system provides an intuitive gameplay experience, with pressure sensors in each action button and the inclusion of the highly sensitive Sixaxis motion sensing technology. Each hit, crash and explosion is more realistic when the user feels the rumble right in the palm of their hand. The DualShock 3 can even detect natural movements for real-time and high precision interactive play, acting as a natural extension of the user's body. DualShock 3 utilizes Bluetooth technology for wireless game play and the controller's detachable USB cable to seamlessly and automatically charge the controller when connected to the PlayStation 3. By integrating all of these features into the popular PlayStation controller design, the DualShock 3 further enhances the advanced gameplay experience only available on the PlayStation 3 system.

Disc-free Netflix Video Streaming

The PlayStation 3 160 GB system is fully compatible with Netflix Instant streaming video functionality.³ Instant streaming video on the PS3 is now available without the need for an additional system disc from Netflix. The PS3 also supports some movies and TV shows in 1080p high definition with Dolby 5.1 channel surround sound.

Synch with Your Other Sony HDMI Devices

The PlayStation 3 160 GB system features HDMI + Bravia Synch functionality. Bravia Synch allows connectivity between Sony HDMI products, without having to utilize multiple remote controls. This means that with the push of one button users can control compliant Sony devices connected to your PS3 via HDMI cable.
