Five Surprising and Fun Things You Can Do With Your PS3

If you are the fortunate owner of a PlayStation 3, you already know what a great gaming system you have. You also have likely used the PS3 to play movies as well, taking advantage of the high quality blu-ray disc drive that it features. However, there are many additional fun things you can do with your PS3 that you may not know about:

1) Steam Movies. If you have a Netflix account, starting October, 2009 you can stream movies and TV programs directly to your PS3. You will no longer have to wait for the movies to arrive by mail or go to your local video store to watch many of your favorite movies!

2) Make Video Phone Calls. You will need a USB headset and the PlayStation Eye camera to do this, but once you have these accessories you will be able to chat with your friends using your PS3! If you choose the video feature, you can make it a video chat as well. Unlike a regular phone, there will be no long distance phone charges other than your standard broadband connection fees.

3) Turn your PlayStation 3 into a Home Computer. You can turn your PS3 into a working PC running the Linux operating system as well. This will allow you to browse the internet and run many computer programs on your PS3 as well.

4) Back Up and Play Music From Your iPod. Yet another wonderful feature of the PlayStation 3 is the ability to download your iPod tunes onto the system and then use it to play your favorite tunes as well. Time to start dancing!

5) Be Regionally Liberated. Unlike most standard DVD players and previous incarnations of the PlayStation system, the PS3 is suitable for playing movies from both the US and the UK (and elsewhere). This means that if you will be traveling abroad, you may want to bring your PS3 with you.
